Who or what is yellow jumper?

Profile picture of Rebecca Stockdale wearing tiger face paint

And potentially more important - how does this woman have the audacity to use this as her profile? All will be revealed.

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I'm Yellow Jumper. Pleased to meet you! I work as an innovation, startup and development coach.

Reason for the name? I've been described as the human version of a yellow jumper, a joyful thing which can bring a bit of happiness in even the darkest times. A compliment if ever I've heard one, and who doesn't want more joy in their lives?

The reason I'm painted as a tiger in my profile picture? There are quite a few actually. I had my face painted at Chester Zoo because my daughter wanted to but was scared. If you can't see or model anyone's behaviour sometimes things are a bit scary. And if I'm not going to do it, how can I expect anyone else to do it? My coaching and business clients can expect the same - I've been through the process and I'm still doing the work to get where I want to be in life.

Secondly, I set up this company because I got sick of playing by the rules, bullsh*t rules as my good friend Charlotte would say. I wanted the opportunity to coach more, work with founders at different stages and bring the benefits of innovation methodologies to a wider audience. And who says I can't be a tiger if I want to?

Lastly, I genuinely believe in putting things out there to test the waters and getting started is more important than getting things right. I didn't own any beautifully posed pictures when this site initially went live. And now I kind of like it plus nobody has ever decided not to work with me because of it. There's an insight into my world. Who knew a picture could tell you so much?!

So how did I get here? After working in digital agencies, professional sports and big corporations I ventured into startups and fell in love, hard. Innovation, startups, coaching and design thinking have my heart.  I recently returned to university to start an MSc in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology, bringing together my love of personal development (grounded in science) and coaching. Through this study, I have become an accredited coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.

Coaching has played a big part in my life in the last decade - personally, I credit it with my evolution and equipping me with the confidence to start my own business. Professionally it's given me the tools to help founders and clients get where they want to be. I look forward to showing you what it can do!
